Burning Mouth Syndrome

If you have discomfort, burning or soreness of your tongue, lips, gums or other areas of your mouth, we may be able to pinpoint a cause and develop an effective course of treatment.

Burning mouth syndrome is the medical term for an ongoing (chronic) or recurrent burning in the mouth without an obvious cause. This discomfort may affect the tongue, gums, lips, inside of your cheeks, roof of your mouth or other areas. The burning sensation can be severe, as if you actually scalded your mouth with hot soup or another hot liquid. Burning mouth syndrome can appear suddenly or gradually develop over time.
